Computer vision solutions in the UAE: cameras that detect safety breaches, defects and progress on real sites

Computer vision solutions in the UAE have to cope with glare, dust, heat haze and mixed-language signage before they can count anything. Next Orbit builds detection, tracking and inspection models on footage from your own cameras. PPE compliance, vehicle movements, product defects and site progress are then measured automatically. Results flow into alerts, dashboards and the systems your operations teams already use every shift.

Quick answer

What is computer vision and who is it for?

Computer vision solutions in the UAE apply trained models to camera and image feeds so that sites, plants, stores and warehouses are monitored automatically. Next Orbit builds solutions for safety and PPE compliance, vehicle and people counting, intrusion and zone breaches, and product and weld defect inspection. It also covers licence plate and container recognition, and construction progress from site photos and drone imagery. Models are trained on footage from your own cameras to handle local lighting, dust and signage. They run on edge devices where bandwidth is limited and send events to your alerting, maintenance or project systems. The work is delivered from Dubai across the UAE and the GCC, with retraining as conditions change.

  • Trained on your footage. Generic models fail in desert glare and night shifts. We label and train on frames from your cameras, so detections hold up in the conditions your sites face.
  • Edge where it matters. Inference runs on site on rugged edge hardware when connectivity is weak, with only events and clips sent to the cloud for review and reporting.
  • Events, not just video. Every detection becomes a structured event with time, camera, zone and clip, routed to alerts, dashboards and your maintenance, safety or project systems.
  • Office. Next Orbit Technologies L.L.C, 509-23, Mai Tower, Al Nahda 1, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, serving the whole UAE, the GCC and globally.
  • Built around your operation The architecture is agreed with you before any code, so the system fits how you already work.
  • Proven before you commit A prototype built around your workflow shows it working before the main investment.
  • Ready for the UAE Arabic and English, UAE compliance such as VAT and e-invoicing where it applies, UAE hosting where your rules require it, secure by design.

What we deliver

Computer vision: what Next Orbit builds and runs for you

Pick a deliverable to see what it covers and the part of the stack behind it.

Deliverable 01

Safety and PPE compliance monitoring

Detection of missing helmets, vests, harnesses and gloves, people in exclusion zones, vehicle and pedestrian proximity, and smoke or fire. Events go to the HSE team with a clip, feed daily compliance reports and can trigger on-site sirens or access control through integrations.

From the stack

  • Power BI
  • PyTorch
  • OpenCV
  • YOLO

Deliverable 02

Video analytics on existing cameras

People counting, queue length, dwell time, heat maps and vehicle flow from the CCTV you already own, through RTSP or ONVIF streams. Privacy is handled by on-device processing and anonymised counts, and the results appear on dashboards for store, mall, facility and traffic teams.

From the stack

  • Power BI
  • PyTorch
  • OpenCV
  • YOLO

Deliverable 03

AI inspection cameras in Dubai factories

Fixed cameras on production lines, packaging stations and weld bays detect scratches, dents, misprints, missing components and dimensional faults in real time. Rejects are flagged to the operator or diverted automatically, and defect statistics feed quality dashboards and your MES or ERP.

From the stack

  • Node.js
  • Power BI
  • Python
  • LangChain / LlamaIndex

Deliverable 04

Licence plate and container recognition

ANPR for gates, car parks and weighbridges with Gulf plate formats, and container and seal number reading at yards and ports. Reads are matched to bookings or visitor lists, barriers open through integration, and exceptions are queued for the security or logistics desk.

From the stack

  • FastAPI
  • Node.js
  • Python

Deliverable 05

Construction and site progress tracking

Site photos, fixed cameras and drone imagery are compared against drawings and schedules to measure progress by area and element. Planners review results alongside progress records held in MeezanX, the EPC project controls platform Next Orbit offers and supports. Existing tools can be used instead.

From the stack

  • Azure OpenAI
  • AWS Bedrock
  • PyTorch
  • OpenCV

Deliverable 06

Edge deployment, MLOps and support

Model packaging for NVIDIA Jetson and industrial PCs, camera health monitoring, secure over-the-air updates and cloud reporting. Detection quality is tracked, false positives are reviewed with your team and models are retrained as cameras, layouts and seasons change. Next Orbit supports the fleet after launch.

How a typical computer vision system fits together

Before a line of production code is written we draw the system: the people who use it, the services behind it and the systems it must talk to. This reference architecture from our AI development practice is the starting point we adapt to your operation.

Questions, answered

Computer vision in the UAE: questions we are asked

01 What computer vision solutions in the UAE do you build?

Safety and PPE monitoring, people and vehicle counting, intrusion and zone detection, and defect inspection on production lines. We also build licence plate and container recognition, and construction progress tracking from site imagery. Each solution is trained on footage from your own cameras and runs on edge devices or in the cloud. Events go to the systems your teams already use.

02 Can video analytics in the UAE use our existing CCTV?

Usually, yes. Most IP cameras expose RTSP or ONVIF streams that our software can read without replacing hardware. The site survey checks resolution, angle, lighting and network capacity for each camera. Where a view is unusable for a given task, we recommend repositioning or adding a camera rather than compromising accuracy.

03 Are you a computer vision development company in the UAE or a reseller?

A development company. Next Orbit trains and deploys its own models on your footage and integrates them with your systems, rather than reselling a fixed product. Where a proven component fits, such as an ANPR engine, we integrate it, but the solution, the data pipeline and the support remain ours.

04 Do you supply AI inspection cameras in Dubai?

We specify the cameras, lenses, lighting and edge hardware for an inspection task and work with your preferred supplier or ours for procurement. The value is in the model and the integration, so we focus there and keep hardware choices open. That also makes replacement and expansion simpler later.

05 How accurate are the detections on real sites?

Accuracy depends on the task, camera placement and training data. We measure it on held-out footage from your own sites and share the results before roll-out. During the pilot, false positives and misses are reviewed with your team and the model is retrained. Thresholds are tuned to the balance you prefer.

06 How is privacy handled for people in the footage?

Processing runs on device or inside your environment, and counts and events are stored rather than raw video where possible. Faces can be blurred before anything is shared. Retention periods follow your policy, access is role based and the design is reviewed with your legal team against UAE data protection requirements.

07 Do you deploy in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah industrial areas?

Yes. We work from one office in Dubai and deploy computer vision solutions in the UAE, including industrial zones in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. We also deploy across the GCC. Site surveys and installations are done on site, while training, monitoring and support run remotely from Dubai. See also our IoT development service.
