Digital twin development for UAE asset owners and operators

A digital twin is a working model of something physical: a pump, a tower, a pipeline network or a whole facility. Fed by live data, it shows what is happening now, what happened before and what is likely to happen next. Building one draws on three disciplines Next Orbit practises daily: IoT hardware, data platforms and 3D visualisation.

  • Architecture-led
  • R&D-backed
  • QC before every release
  • UAE, GCC & global
  • IoT and SCADA data mapped onto an asset model
  • Dashboards, 3D scenes and mixed-reality access
  • History, alerts and what-if simulation
  • Sensors, connectivity and software from one team

Quick answer

What are digital twins and who is it for?

A digital twin is a digital model of a physical asset, site or process that stays in step with the real one through live data. Next Orbit builds twins that combine IoT telemetry, operational records and 2D or 3D views, with alerts, analytics and simulation on top. They serve utilities, energy, real estate, construction and manufacturing operators in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, the entire UAE, the GCC and globally.

Every engagement is architecture-led, delivered by an innovative, R&D-backed team of security-first engineers and quality-controlled before each release, for clients across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the entire UAE, the GCC and globally.

  • IoT and SCADA data mapped onto an asset model
  • Dashboards, 3D scenes and mixed-reality access
  • History, alerts and what-if simulation
  • Sensors, connectivity and software from one team
  • Built around your operation The architecture is agreed with you before any code, so the system fits how you already work.
  • Proven before you commit A prototype built around your workflow shows it working before the main investment.
  • Ready for the UAE Arabic and English, UAE compliance such as VAT and e-invoicing where it applies, UAE hosting where your rules require it, secure by design.

What you get

Digital twins: what we deliver

Live digital models of assets, buildings and sites, fed by IoT data and explored in 2D, 3D or mixed reality.

6 deliverables, proven in the lab first

Deliverable 01 · Digital twins

Asset model

A structured record of the asset: components, locations, relationships, and the documents and maintenance history attached to each part.

StatusDelivered on your project

Deliverable 02 · Digital twins

Live data

Sensor and SCADA readings are bound to the model, so every component shows its current state and its past readings.

StatusDelivered on your project

Deliverable 03 · Digital twins

3D and spatial views

Floor plans, BIM or CAD models and 3D scenes let people find information by looking at where it belongs, on screen or in a headset.

StatusDelivered on your project

Deliverable 04 · Digital twins

Alerts and analytics

Rules and predictive models watch the data and raise an alert when a reading leaves its normal range.

StatusDelivered on your project

Deliverable 05 · Digital twins

Simulation

What-if scenarios test a new setpoint, schedule or layout on the model before anyone touches the real asset.

StatusDelivered on your project

Deliverable 06 · Digital twins

Integration

The twin connects to maintenance, ERP and document systems, so it becomes a working tool instead of a showroom display.

How is a digital twin different from a 3D model or a dashboard?

  1. A 3D model shows what something looks like, and a dashboard shows numbers.

    Read moreShow less

A digital twin joins the two and keeps them current: each element in the model is linked to live and historical data about the real component it represents. Select a chiller and you see its temperatures, running hours, last service and open work orders.

  2. Twins come in levels.

    Read moreShow less

A descriptive twin shows the current state. A diagnostic twin helps explain why something happened. A predictive twin forecasts what will happen, and a prescriptive twin recommends what to do. Most organisations see the best return by building a solid descriptive twin of one important asset first, then extending it.

How does Next Orbit build a digital twin?

  1. Every twin has four layers.

    Read moreShow less

The physical layer is the sensors, meters and control systems that produce data; where they are missing, we specify and install them, including custom hardware when no off-the-shelf device fits. The data layer collects readings as time series tied to an asset hierarchy. The model layer holds geometry and structure. The application layer is what people use: dashboards, 3D views, alerts and reports.

  2. Because Next Orbit builds software and hardware under one solution architecture, the team that chooses the sensor also designs the database and the screen.

We use LoRaWAN and MQTT for field connectivity, integrate with SCADA, and build headset experiences on Unity and OpenXR. Projects are scoped so that a first asset goes live early and value is proven before the twin grows.

  • Sensor, gateway and connectivity design
  • Time-series data platform
  • Import of BIM, CAD or GIS models
  • Web, mobile and headset interfaces

Where does a digital twin pay back for UAE operators?

  1. The strongest cases share three traits: the asset is valuable or critical, it is hard to inspect in person, and decisions about it rely on late or partial information.

    Read moreShow less

Remote facilities, spread-out networks and large buildings fit this pattern well, and so do offshore and energy assets where every site visit is expensive.

  2. Common uses include condition monitoring and maintenance planning, energy and water optimisation, remote operations support, training on a virtual copy of real equipment, and the handover of a finished building or plant with its data attached.

Questions, answered

Digital twins in the UAE: frequently asked questions

01 Do we need a 3D model to start a digital twin?

No. A twin can start from a 2D schematic or a map linked to live data. 3D views are added where they help people understand location and context.

02 Can an older facility have a digital twin?

Yes. Existing assets can be fitted with retrofit sensors, and the model can be built from drawings, surveys or scans. The survey stage shows what is practical.

03 Can you supply the sensors and hardware?

Yes. Next Orbit designs IoT systems end to end, including device selection, custom hardware and firmware where needed, gateways and connectivity. See our IoT development services.

04 Can the twin be viewed in VR or mixed reality?

Yes. We build headset experiences alongside web and mobile views, which helps with training, design review and remote support. See AR and VR development.

05 Will the twin connect to our SCADA or maintenance system?

Yes. SCADA, maintenance management and ERP integration are part of the design, with careful separation between operational and business networks.

06 How is a digital twin project priced?

It is scope-based, driven by the asset, the hardware needed, the level of visualisation and the integrations. A tailored proposal follows discovery.
