LoRaWAN solutions UAE: long-range, low-power sensor networks for sites, buildings, utilities and assets

Next Orbit designs and deploys LoRaWAN solutions in the UAE for businesses that need to read sensors across large sites. There is no cabling and no SIM card in every device. LoRaWAN is a low-power wide-area protocol in which battery-powered sensors send small messages over long distances to gateways. The gateways forward them to a network server, and from there to your dashboards and systems. One gateway can serve a whole warehouse, farm, compound or plant.

Quick answer

What is LoRaWAN networks and who is it for?

LoRaWAN solutions in the UAE connect battery-powered sensors to gateways over long distances using unlicensed sub-gigahertz radio. A site can therefore be monitored without cabling or a SIM card in every device. Next Orbit selects or builds the sensors, supplies and commissions gateways and runs a network server such as ChirpStack or The Things Stack. Decoded readings are published over MQTT to dashboards, alerts and your ERP or maintenance system. Typical uses are cold room temperatures, tank and water levels, energy and water meters, air quality, occupancy, vibration and asset tracking. Deployments follow the frequency plan permitted by the UAE regulator and are delivered from Dubai across the UAE and the GCC.

  • Why LoRaWAN. Sensors run for a long time on batteries and messages travel far through buildings and across open sites. A few gateways cover an area that would otherwise need many SIM cards or cables.
  • What a deployment needs. A radio survey, gateway placement with backhaul, device provisioning with secure join keys and payload decoders. Then a network server, an MQTT broker and dashboards with alert rules that someone owns.
  • What we deliver. Site survey and design, sensors and gateways, and custom hardware and firmware where no off-the-shelf device fits. Then the network server, dashboards, integration with your systems and a support plan.
  • Office. Next Orbit Technologies L.L.C, 509-23, Mai Tower, Al Nahda 1, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, serving the whole UAE, the GCC and globally.
  • Built around your operation The architecture is agreed with you before any code, so the system fits how you already work.
  • Proven before you commit A prototype built around your workflow shows it working before the main investment.
  • Ready for the UAE Arabic and English, UAE compliance such as VAT and e-invoicing where it applies, UAE hosting where your rules require it, secure by design.

Deliverable 02

LoRaWAN gateways and sensors in Dubai

Indoor and outdoor gateways rated for UAE heat and dust. Off-the-shelf sensors cover temperature, humidity, level, energy, water, air quality, occupancy, doors and vibration. We supply, provision and label every device. We also keep the device register, so replacements and battery changes are simple.

Where no off-the-shelf device fits, we design custom boards around LoRa modules and write the firmware. That covers sensor drivers, power management, over-the-air activation, confirmed and unconfirmed uplinks, downlink commands and update paths. Prototypes are tested on site before a production run with a manufacturing partner.

  • Grafana

Deliverable 05

Dashboards, alerts and reports

Live maps and charts per site, zone and asset. Threshold and trend alerts go out by SMS, WhatsApp, email or push, with escalation rules. Scheduled reports serve operations and compliance. Dashboards are built in Arabic and English for operations teams and management, designed by our UI and UX team.

Questions, answered

LoRaWAN networks in the UAE: questions we are asked

01 What are LoRaWAN solutions in the UAE used for?

Reading sensors across large or hard-to-cable sites. Examples are cold rooms and reefers, tank and water levels, energy and water meters, and air quality and occupancy in buildings. Farms use soil and greenhouse sensors, plants use vibration and run-hour sensors, and compounds track asset location. The common thread is many low-cost sensors, long battery life and few gateways.

02 Is LoRaWAN permitted in the UAE and which frequency is used?

LoRaWAN runs in unlicensed sub-gigahertz bands. Deployments in the UAE must follow the frequency plan and power limits set by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority. We configure gateways and devices to the permitted plan and use type-approved hardware. Confirm regulatory details for your site with us during the survey.

03 Do you offer IoT retrofit solutions in the UAE for old equipment?

Yes. Most deployments start as retrofits. Pulse or Modbus readers go on existing meters, level sensors on tanks, probes in chillers and current clamps on motors. Trackers go on trailers. The equipment stays in place and the sensors report over LoRaWAN. See our GPS and asset tracking page for moving assets.

04 Are you a smart device development company in the UAE as well?

Yes. When no off-the-shelf sensor fits, we design the board around a LoRa module and write the firmware. We build prototypes, test them on site and arrange a production run with a manufacturing partner. The same team handles enclosures for heat and dust and the device register used in operations.

05 What does IoT hardware and firmware development in the UAE include?

Schematic and board design, sensor and power circuits, and firmware with sensor drivers and sleep and wake cycles. Also secure over-the-air activation, uplink and downlink handling, firmware update paths and environmental testing. Firmware is written so it can be updated in the field. The payload format is documented for the network server decoders.

06 How do LoRaWAN readings reach our ERP or maintenance system?

The network server decodes each payload and publishes it over MQTT. Our integration layer then writes readings, alerts and events to dashboards, a maintenance system, a BMS or an ERP through their APIs. Clients on e-tijariX, which Next Orbit implements and supports, can receive stock, energy or asset data this way.

07 Can we start with one site and expand later?

Yes. A pilot zone with a gateway, a handful of sensors and a dashboard proves coverage and alert rules first. Devices, gateways and sites are then added to the same network server and dashboards. Request a demo to see a live LoRaWAN dashboard on Next Orbit sample data.
